Skywards Saver Skywards Flex fare type

What is a ‘Skywards Saver’ fare?

A 'Skywards Saver' fare is any Emirates fare with either:
(a) eligibility restrictions (such as students; seniors; companions; etc)
(b) a limited sales period (''must purchase by'' date)
All fares sold by other airlines, partly flown on Emirates, also fall into this category.

A Skywards Flex fare is any Emirates fare with none of the above restrictions, i.e. no eligibility or purchase restrictions.
You can earn 100% of base Miles when you purchase 'Skywards Flex' fares. You can earn 50% of base Miles when you purchase 'Skywards Saver' fares.depending on what fare best meets your travel needs. A 'Skywards Flex' fare will always allow you earn more Skywards Miles and tier miles.
The Skywards fare type will be reflected in Emirates fare rules, along with all other fare conditions. This will be clearly displayed and visible to you while booking via emirates.com in the Miles breakdown information. Alternatively, your travel agent will be able to inform you about the fare conditions at the time of booking.

When booking on emirates.com, do I have an option to search for a 'Skywards Saver' or 'Skywards Flex' fare?

This functionality will be developed in the near future. Currently you can search by the lowest available fare, or by schedule. The fares displayed clearly reflect whether they are 'Skywards Saver' or 'Skywards Flex' fares. You can also easily identify and choose flights offering Miles Accelerator bonuses when booking online at emirates.com.

How to retain skywards Silver or Gold tier status

How do I retain my Silver or Gold status?

When you earn 25,000 tier Miles on Emirates before your review date, you will retain your skywards Silver status. When you earn 50,000 tier Miles on Emirates before your review date, you will retain your Gold status.

For example:

If it is your first year as a Gold member, we will count back to when you achieved your Gold status and add-up all the tier miles you have flown since then. For example, if you achieve your Gold status on 10 June 2010, your review date will be 30 June 2011. On your review date, we will therefore add up your tier miles earned between 10 June 2010 and 30 June 2011 (excluding the flight which earned you Gold status).

If it is your second or subsequent year as a Gold member, we will count back to your last review date and add-up all the tier miles you have flown since then. Continuing the above example, on your review date of 30 June 2012, we will therefore add up your tier miles earned between 1 July 2011 and 30 June 2012.

If you achieve your Silver status on 10 June 2010, your review date will be 30 June 2011. On your review date, we will therefore add up your tier miles earned between 10 June 2010 and 30 June 2011 (excluding the flight which earned you Silver status). If you are able to earn 25,000 tier Miles between 10 June 2010 and 30 June 2011, you will be able to retain your Silver tier status.

If it is your second or subsequent year as a Silver member, we will count back to your last review date and add-up all the tier miles you have flown since then. Continuing the above example, on your review date of 30 June 2012, we will therefore add up your tier miles earned between 1 July 2011 and 30 June 2012.

What does Skywards mean by ‘up to 13 Months’ to earn and retain a tier?

(a) To earn a higher tier (Blue to Silver, or Silver to Gold) we recognise your tier miles over any consecutive 13-month period. This allows you a full 13-month window to achieve a higher tier. For example:

Tier miles counted from Tier miles counted to Time period
1 January 2009 31 January 2010 13 months
1 February 2009 28 February 2010 13 months
1 March 2009 31 March 2010 13 months
etc ... etc ... 13 months

(b) Upon achieving a higher tier, your status is valid for one year from the month you achieve it. Your review date is set to the end of the same month the following year. This means in your first year, you have between 12 and 13 months to retain your tier, depending on what day of the month you achieve it. For example:

You earn a higher tier Your review date Time period to retain tier status
1 June 2010 30 June 2011 13 months
30 June 2010 30 June 2011 12 months
17 June 2010 30 June 2011 12 months & 14 days

(c) In your second and subsequent years of retaining a tier, you have exactly 12 months to retain your tier, count backing back to your last review date. For example:

Your previous review date Your current review date Time period to retain tier status
30 June 2011 30 June 2012 12 months
31 December 2009 31 December 2010 12 months
31 October 2010 31 October 2011 12 months

Pacific sun cheap fares Suva to Labasa

As part of upcoming Fiji Day celebrations, Fiji’s domestic and regional carrier, Pacific Sun, today announced more flights at better times with lower fares for Labasa & Suva customers. Starting October 11, 2010, Pacific Sun will introduce a new schedule and additional ATR, Otter, and Islander flights** between Labasa and Suva together with a special celebratory fare of $70 one-way for a limited time (price includes all taxes and surcharges; conditions apply), giving better choices and more affordable air travel to residents of Labasa and Vanua Levu. These changes will increase the total number of flights per week between Labasa and Suva to 50 (25 return flights).
ATR42-500 flights will now depart Labasa daily at 8:35am, returning in the afternoon from Suva at 2:50pm on Mondays and Fridays; returns will be at 3:40pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
“The Labasa Town Council, Labasa Chamber of Commerce, and our customers in the Friendly North asked for lower fares, more flights and earlier departures to Suva with later returns to allow more time to conduct business and to visit family and friends for the day,” said Dave Pflieger, Managing Director and CEO of Air Pacific, the parent company of Pacific Sun. “We heard those requests loud and clear, and we think we have developed a great way to do all three at the same time.”
“In addition, as a thank you to all of our customers for their tremendous support since we started flying 3 years ago, and to do our part to celebrate Fiji Day, we will also offer $70 fares* in commemoration of Fiji’s 1970 Independence year. While these fares will only be available for a short time, our new lowest fare in the market will start at $99 after the $70 sale period ends,” said Pacific Sun General Manager Jim Samson.
