American Airlines new route to Joplin Airport Mo

American Eagle Airlines, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, launched nonstop service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Joplin Regional Airport (JLN) in Joplin, Mo., beginning Feb. 10, 2011. Eagle operate the route with 64-seat Super ATR aircraft.

"We're delighted to introduce new service to Joplin," said Gary Foss, Vice President of Planning and Marketing for American's regional network. "These two daily flights will not only allow business travelers from Joplin to make an easy day trip to Dallas/Fort Worth, but will link Southwest Missouri with American's largest hub and international gateway."

"Economic development is strengthened by quality air service," said Joplin Mayor Mike Woolston. "It provides the connections needed to attract businesses to our region, and is part of the necessary foundation to develop new job opportunities for our residents. Good jobs are essential in a community that offers a high quality of life for its residents."

"Our customer market survey this spring reflected an overwhelming response to provide service to DFW with American Airlines," said Steve Stockam, Joplin Airport Manager. "This partnership with American delivers this request, and offers our customers access to one of the largest airlines with service to markets worldwide. This is a great beginning to what we believe will be the resurgence of our commercial airline service for the Joplin market area and the economy for Southwest Missouri."
