Midway’s terminal redevelopment program included a new one million squarefoot
terminal building with ticketing, baggage claim, gate areas and a Federal
Inspection Services area, as well as a new parking garage, increased
landscaping around the airport and more food and retail offerings.
In 2010, Midway experienced a nearly four percent increase in passenger
volume, as well as increases in aircraft operations and non-airline revenue.
Volaris Airlines, a new carrier for Midway, initiated operations from Chicago to
Guadalajara, Mexico in December 2010. In June, AirTran will begin new
seasonal service from Midway to Branson, Missouri.
Southwest Airlines continues its commitment to Chicago by adding service to
three new markets this month: two flights to both Charleston and Greenville-
Spartanburg, as well as six flights to Newark International Airport.
