Qantas Increases A380 flights to United States

Qantas Airways significantly increase Airbus A380 services between the United States and Australia.

LAX to Sydney services increased from four per week to daily; and
Los Angeles-Melbourne services will increase from two to three per week.

"The Airbus A380 is the flagship of the Qantas fleet," Mr. Joyce said. "With product and interiors designed by Qantas Creative Director, Australian designer Marc Newson, it offers customers unprecedented levels of space and comfort.

Qantas features for trans-Pacific International Economy passengers departing on U.S. mainland flights include award-winning service; enhanced food and bar service including a choice of menu selections, blankets and pillows, more than 400 video-on-demand program options with a personal, in-seat interactive video screen; and a carefully-considered amenity pack, featuring a selection of comforts to enhance the flight experience.

Features for Qantas Business passengers departing from the U.S. mainland include: award-winning Qantas Business service; access to the deluxe Qantas Business lounges in Sydney and Melbourne and partner lounges stateside; an enhanced Skybed sleeper seat designed by Qantas Creative Director Marc Newson, with ergonomically-enhanced cushioning; more than 400 on-demand entertainment options presented on the 10.4-inch touch screen system; cuisine options from multi-course dinners to a la carte menus to Room Service breakfasts designed by leading Australian Chef Neil Perry, and a luxury amenity pack, featuring premium comforts to enhance the flight experience.

"As Australia's premier airline, we are proud to be the only carrier offering A380 services from the U.S., and from March 29, our six-strong fleet will enable us to offer daily A380 services between Los Angeles and Sydney for the first time, and also increase weekly services from Los Angeles to Melbourne."

The announcement coincides with a range of special USA fares released last week to celebrate the annual G'Day USA 2010 event, now in its seventh year.

Qantas customers can save up to 40 percent on Economy and Premium Economy bookings and up to 60 percent in Business. Round-trip Economy fares on flights to Sydney from Los Angeles and San Francisco start from $798*, while round-trip Economy fares from New York to Sydney start at $998.*

"Qantas is a founding sponsor of G'Day USA and the leading airline when it comes to travel between the United States and Australia," said Mr. Wally Mariani, Qantas Senior Executive Vice President for the Americas. "These outstanding sale fares are part of our ongoing commitment to promoting Australia in the U.S. and to further developing trade and tourism links between the two countries."

Qantas operate 40 return services per week between the United States and Australia, including 33 from Los Angeles (to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane), four from San Francisco and three from Honolulu.
